History meets Technology


These are two examples of Damascus steel pictured here...an ancient technique of crafting metal--mostly for use in fancy swords or decoration. Modern day uses can be controlled by more sophisticated metalsmithing, creating very refined writing instruments like the one to the right. By combining two metal alloys & layering them extensively, the result can have a wood-grain effect or one of countless other beautiful patterns.
