A Rockin' Thursday!

Finally, a thursday to compete with the weekend :) Jon & I went to the Skyy90 thing at the 'Design Within Reach' art studio last night. Basically a microbrewed version of Ikea, with a few extra zeros at the end of every pricetag. At first, having free drinks in a furniture store seemed weak... but after a while, making jokes about the ridiculous $7,000 plastic curvy couches became very entertaining! Afterwards we hit the Hotel Solamar, which is basically the whole purpose of this blog entry :)

The Hotel Solamar had a gorgeous rooftop lounge that was pitch black, only lit by some well-placed neon lighting...creating the ultimate "Miami Vice, retro, DAFT PUNK" feel at the end of the night. I highly recommend the place, especially if you enjoy a nice view of PETCO park!

A Smashing Comeback!

Top Ten Reasons this Sunday Became the Best Day of My Weekend:

10 The weather was perfect!
9 I finished almost all my dumb little errands
8 My mom didn't bug me all day w/ phonecalls :)
7 I escaped from downtown into Pacific Beach!
6 I bought a $0.49 CD of really ridiculous music
5 I ate at Zen-5 sushi, which I've never been to.
4 The sushi was excellent
3 I received a handwritten letter!
2 I laughed harder than I've laughed for weeks :)

And the #1 reason this Sunday became the best day of my weekend? Well I dunno, it's hard to explain.. ;O)

Sharing my Feelings

With ComicCon in town and the few baseball games and who knows what else...the traffic this weekend was nuts. I think everything just ended, so it took me like 20 minutes to drive 3/4 of a mile. All I wanted was 3 gallons of water so I can clean my aquarium. Well I got the water...but now I don't feel like doin it cuz the drive was too annoying :) It's a beautiful day though so I didn't mean to imply that any of this brought me down at all.. Okay, I'll give the full briefing of friday & saturday night later on.

MTI lives on........

I just finished explaining "Mickus Tower Industries" to Audrey, so I figure I'd post this picture to show the rest of you!!! It's a crude diagram of the legendary clubhouse my brother built in our backyard...back when we were kids :)

Lots of 10pm Sunsets

CLICK PICTURE TO SEE ALL PHOTOS!
Well I'm back and it was a once-in-a-lifetime trip! The country was far more beautiful than expected and I saw every major city (and beach, and forest). All of the streets in the central cities were designed with a pedestrian boulevard in the middle...providing some great people-watching from the frequent steetside beer tents. Svyturys was the beer of choice in the country, and greasy "meat & potatoes" were on every menu. Since indepence in 1991, Lithuania has come a long way....with English versions of every menu and tons of tourists swarming all over Vilnius, the capital. Our small personalized tour was lucky enough to hit some very remote spots in the countryside; Birthplaces of my uncles as well as small villages that survived the onslaught of Russian occupation through the last 100+ years. Throw in a few powerful museums and monuments and you have a perfect vacation. I'll obviously tell everyone more about the nightlife when I see you in person.. :) I highly recommend passing through the Baltic region--even though there are no waves anywhere whatsoever.
